Define the "American Dream."
Here are some questions to help you get thinking.
What is your personal dream? Are there similar characteristics of the dreams of all Americans? Is it a static or dynamic defnition? What are factors in society which alter the defintion? Does the definition apply to all Americans?
Living the American dream is what everyone in this country wants. It's the dream to have a family, job, and house, to have all the "toys" and be able to live free. However most importantly it is to be happy in life and have the opportunity to go as far as one wants to. The dream is to have nothing holding them back but themselves. That is why people come to America, for that American dream of family, prosperity, and opportunity.

People do not come to the United States to live in poverty, people do not come to work for another man forever. People come because here people are their own masters, here all are pursuing happiness.

To some it might be a house in the suburbs with a Cadillac out front, but to someone else it is having a house anywhere, having a job or being free. Where you start usually determines where you want to end. Dreams can live and die. The American Dream is what people spend time working for. Different people different dreams.

Some people may want all the perks, such as a big house or nice cars, but others may just want to be happy or have a family. Society wants us to believe that the American dream Is a nice house, a family, a pet, and a nice house, but it is much more than that. The American dream is a dream of freedoms and happiness, and that’s all we should want.
ReplyDeletethe American dream i believe is be rich and live happy to believe this as the American dream. but i believe that the only reason that we would want to be rich is so that we don’t have to work, i believe that i is not important to be rich but have a nice living without work that is my American dream. this is a very dynamic defanion though because of the fact rich is a term that is constantly changing along with the standard of living and inflation, what a man 500 years ago would call rich would have been someone with 10,000 dollars but today’s that is just a fraction of a year’s earnings. that is also how society would alter the dreams definition. But one flaw is that this does not apply to all citizens because some do not wish to have such a free life style. Some people want to work because it gets them out of doing nothing and into something different, it gives them something to look forward to the next day.
ReplyDeleteThe American Dream is the ideas and the hopes of freedom, equalities, and opprutines that are here in America. My personal dream is that there will be limited racist in America and the options of oppuritnes never die and there are more options than before. The similar characteristics that the dream has are to be free and to get a chance to do something in your life that you haven’t done before. This is a dynamic defection because this is what Americans what to change they want to make a difference in their life to be free to have their own religion and etc. Some factors of this defection are war and government controlling everything and no choices to the people. The defection applies to every that everyone can come here and get the same opprituenes and the chance to be free.
ReplyDeleteThe American Dream depends on the eyes of the beholder. People come to America for different reasons and sometimes that reason may be no reason at all. To be free, not to live in poverty, and to have an equal opportunity are what many strive for, but don't realistically plan for. This dream is the constant pursuit of happiness of each and every person living in this wonderful country.
ReplyDeleteEvery individual has a different dream that they would like to fulfill. Every person that is born into or becomes a legal citizen wants to be free. Freedom means many different opprotunities to many different people. Realistically American dream is to not be in poverty and to have a job to support ones family. No madder how fast this economy is spiraling downhill, it will be braught up to fulfill the American Dreams to all the future citizens of America.

My American dream is not going to be the same as every other American out there, because I am only one person, and only have one opinion.

It is your dream what everyone in America really wants a job that they look forward to going to every morning, a family or spouse that they love, and the feeling that you made a difference in the world that we live in today. But not everyone’s dream is the same; some want a white picket fence and a two story house, others want a nice car and to live in the tropics, but they all have something in common; they all want to have a great life and a great family. My dream is to live on my own island, without a care in the world, have a great job that I can make my own hours and live how I want to live. The American dream is anything that you want it to be, and it’s never too early to start.

You might not have all the things you want,but you have what you need and more. This also means that you have a family that cares for you, and that you are in good health.

The American Dream can be whatever someone wants it to be; it could be just a small goal someone has for themselves, or it can be a success story of what they want to accomplish in their lifetime. The American Dream can be steady, or as someone grows up it may change with time. Whether time is a problem or reality is a problem, the American Dream can be what someone sees themselves doing. This definition applies to whomever wants to believe in it.

Everyone has a different perspective to what the American dream is because they all want different things. this deffintion can always be changeing or maybe its the same thing as it has always been. Not everyone has the same dreams at all. Things that can change this deffinition could be anything, like culture, class, or just your life in general, and how you were grown up. This Deffinition can apply to everyone or maybe no one at all. It applies to people who want the American Dream.

Also it is living life to the fullest and doing what you can to make your life easier. This dream is my dream, I cannot say if my dream is the same as what other Americans are. Something that alters this would be that jobs are hard to find let alone a job that you can enjoy going to every day and the pay is not always the greatest.

The American Dream is having a career not because of money, but becaue you need something to do so that you can learn more. The American Dream is definitely living in a huge mansion. The american dream is living each day to its fullest and not looking back at certain things one may regret but just building on the little things in life. The specifics are different for everyone, but all want to be free, to speak freely, to worship freely, to be free to do as they want and hope for a better tomorrow. Some think it is having a mansion and more money than they know what to do with, but for some it is merely owning a house and supporting their family.

The American dream is associated with having the job of your life and anything else that you would need to live comfortably, and for everything to be hunky dory. What I believe to be the American dream is a vision that foreigners and Americans alike both share and they in-vision the the old America were every thing was normal. the white picket fence days when women stayed home, guys were at work, kids were at school and there were going to be flying cars by the year 2000. times have changed we've become over socialized and no one can find jobs, kids are seldom in school and we still don't have flying cars. when i vision the American dream i see the past time today a simpler life with less socializing and more doing. My American dream is one of the future with flying cars and computers in your head but without all of the unnecessary small talk.

An American should not regret anything they have done, for the fact that he or she should learn from his or her mistakes. The essential part of the American dream is to live a happy life. If an American is not living happily, he or she is not living the American dream.

For some individuals the American dream may consist of becoming a millionaire, but for others the American dream may consist of just haven the freedom to make choose and have opportunities. A person’s American dream all depends on what they want in life. Each individual must decide what they want their American dream to consist of. Some may remember what a movie depicted as an American dream, and imagine that the ideal American dream is like that movie. I believe the American dream is whatever you believe it to be. Everyone has a different idea as to what is his or her own American dream. For some it may be having a family, nice home and a stable job. For others if could be as simple as being happy where ever life may take them. I believe that all you need to be living the American dream is happiness and a feeling of success.
