The question that I am taking from the Anticipation survey is the question stating, “Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.” I believe that this survey question is incorrectly, or in my words very very very wrong. You could buy everything that your dreams desire such as a new house, food, clothes, business, and etc. but you still won’t be happy. My opinion you can’t be happy in life without a family. A family is key to being happy, though money can help in sticky situation such as paying for bills, paying for car accident, paying for a house, or etc. If you have a family through these sticky situations then the struggle will not be that bad. The family will be there for you through everything they will help you and support you through this struggle. Though people will say that money will help and “make happiness” this can be true for awhile, but complete happiness is being surrounded by people that love to talk to you, that people love your presence, and that people love you back because they love you. No matter what money can buy that doesn’t matter because family is the number one happiness in life.
The one that I feel most strongly about would have to be the thirteenth statement on the Raisin in the Sun: Anticipation Guide worksheet. The words on it state, “If your family doesn’t support your dreams, it is best to let them go.” I disagree with this statement. If you tell your family about your dreams and they do not agree with them then that is not the reason for you to give up on your own dreams. These “things” you want to achieve are for your own personal satisfaction, not that of another. If something makes you happy then you should go for it, as long as it’s legal of course. For example if you aspire to have more than your parents had to offer, or to get out of the little town that you’ve know your entire life, then you should try for it. You may not always achieve this goal but you may discover some more hopes, that you never knew that you had before. If you want to broaden your horizon then you should just go for it. Jump, you never know where you’re going to land. Take advice from the people around you but what really matters is what you want to do with your own life. Remember this quote my dad had gotten from one of his buddies in the military, “I’d rather be unsure of the future than sure of a wasted lifetime.”
“Money is an important part of life without you will be unhappy.” Money is a very important part of life you need money to do just about anything. You need money to accomplish you’re goals sometimes if they are very big dreams such as investing in a business or making a profit off of anything. You need money to buy the basic needs such as food, water, shelter, electricity (not needed entirely but definitely recommended.) You need money in this day and age to get just about anywhere. Money also brings happiness regardless of what a lot of people say because the more money you have the more things you can buy and the more things you are able to enjoy out of life. A quote to support all these ideas would be Wu-Tang Clan’s song C.R.E.A.M which stands for Cash Rules Everything Around Me. This happens to be about one hundred and fifty six words.
I think that one of the more controversial subjects on this survey was that females should not aspire to high power careers. It is really sad that some people do not feel that this can be a possibility! Now-a-days, women have just as many opportunities as men do in the workforce, especially when it comes to “higher up” positions. Women are able to become doctors, lawyers, independent business owners, and also one of the most superior positions in the United States today, being President of the United States. Also, there are many women these days who are the “sole bread winners” in their families, while their spouse is at home taking care of the house or any children that may be there. Some people see this as being “wrong”, especially the older generation. I know that my grandparents for instance, are very stuck to their ways. My grandpa for instance doesn’t really know how to do the wash or how to cook his own meals. Also, my grandma cooks dinner and sets the table while my grandpa watches the news, they both eat together, and then my grandpa leaves his plate on the table to let my grandma clean up everything. So for those people who believe that women cannot take on higher positions, you are all sadly mistaken.
I personally disagree with the statement that if a man is unable to provide monetarily for his family, it makes him less of a man. I disagree with this because a man is not classified a man on whether he has money or not. Of course, every man wants to do everything in his power to provide as much monetarily as he can. Although, when he cannot provide enough financially for his family, it does not make him less of a man. A man should rather be classified on how hard he works to provide financially for his family. I believe this system would classify men to a better standard. Classifying men this way would take away the lower class financially. It would rather classify the lazy people as the lower class of work ethic. The lower class would be made up of men who have a lot of money, men who have a decent amount of money, and men who have a small amount of money to no money at all. The middle class would contain the median between the hard workers and the lazy workers with poor work ethic. Therefore, that leaves the upper class with the hardest workers. Once again, this system does not matter whether you have many or not, it matters on how hard you work to provide for family.
Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy. I do not agree or disagree with this statement. When you have a great amount of money things will be easier for you. It will be easier for them to pay bills and other things. When there is less things to worry about, you will have less stress, and less stress can lead to happiness. But with money, you could also develop greed. You could have fights within your family over the money. If you don’t have money, things will be more difficult for you. You will struggle to pay your bills. You will live from pay check to pay check. You will have to work harder to receive your money. But when you‘re struggling within your family this can often bring your family closer together. But money cannot decide how happy someone is. This will depend only on there attitude with the amount of money they have. Someone with a large sum of money can avoid being greedy with the money, they can live life with money and still be happy. “Money cannot buy happiness,” and to that I respond, “I would sure like to try.”
We should not have predetermined roles in society because of gender, race, or socioeconomic reasons. We should be able to become whatever we want. Anyone should be able to pursue what they want to become. Just because a person is a certain race doesn’t mean that they have to live in a certain place, work a certain job, enjoy certain things, or have a certain kind of family. Someone doesn’t have to be a stereotype. Just because you live in a small town doesn’t mean that you are a farmer. Just because you live in a city doesn’t mean you are a jerk who is a big-wig CEO. People shouldn’t have to live up to other people’s expectations. Just because you’re a women doesn’t mean you have to be at home with the kids and have dinner on the table at five, and the home sparkling. Just because you’re a man doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re the provider for your home. Just because your black doesn’t mean you’re poor, or just cause your white it doesn’t mean that you live in the suburbs. If we defeat these stereotypes it will go a long way to ending differences in society today.
Gender roles are indeed dictated by society, although that is only because in society we allow it to be that way. I believe that women and minorities are equal parts. We in society shouldn’t give women and or minorities roles in society because it is not fair and in America we should be able to do whatever we want to achieve not only our personal goals but also in our personal dreams. Not what society wants us to be because that’s not who you really are. I really think that we, as Americans can break the gender and race roles in society but it will take all of us to put these roles to rest. This is America and you can and should be whatever you want to. I also think that women shouldn’t be seen any less then men because in all reality women are just as big of a part of America as men but in a business world men have always be the ones that have the main role. It is our turn our generation that can change this gender role that is dictated by society, It can be our generation that finally makes me and women equal in the work force. We are the ones that will change this, we will be the generation to make a difference, to finally end the gender roles that are dictated by our American Society. I truly believe that we can end this gender roles that are dictated by American Soceity.
We should not think of the United States as a “melting pot” in which people from many varied cultures should leave their differences and old world customs behind and adopt only “American” traditions and customs. Many immigrants to the United States come to the United States to escape oppression of their beliefs, religion, or customs. Believing that people should leave behind the customs that they came to the United States to protect goes against the whole purpose of immigration. Also, what so-called “American” traditions should they adopt? All “American” traditions are truly not American at all, but merely the product of other immigrants in the past. The only true “American” traditions are those of the Native Americans and look what those colonists (From Europe!) did to the Native American’s customs and way of life. Not only that, there would not be as great of a variety of luxuries in the United States. There would not be any tacos, or Chinese buffets, any Christmas trees or Easter. Even the name United States of America isn’t truly “American”, after all, Mexico bears the full name of United States of Mexico, and Brazil bears the name United States of Brazil. Literally any country in the North or South American continents that has individual territories could be called Untied States of America.
Money is an important part of our lives , I believe that the truth part of this is that if you do not have a sufficient funds you will be worrying to much about the future. What kind of life a person that worries only about their money can make then very unhappy . but the false part of this is that you don’t need a lot of money to be happy, to hav3e more then you can spend is very unneccicary and greedy. To have too much money and only worry about making more can consume some peoples lives just to make more money. Also another part of the truth is that if you make enough to not worry day by day you will have enough free time to go out and have fun and do stuff. To have enough to not worry and not enough to be consumed in your own greed is the right amount to make a person happy.
Is money an important part of life? I believe that if you do not have money you will be happy If you live life to the fullest. You can live life and succeed your dreams and be happy, even if you don’t have money. Someone’s dream could be living in the forest enjoying the nature and just making it past life. In Alaska people that run the Iditarod don’t have money because they just run their dogs. They dedicate their lives to the dogs live and live dirt cheap. People that do have money sometimes are selfish. They are mean and think they are all that. They can buy what they want and aren’t that happy because money cannot buy many things. Money cannot buy friendship. Friendship is essential in life. Friends are great to have so you can hang out and have fun. Love is also something money cannot buy. People may act like they love they rich partner. Love is a good thing to have in life. People that have money cannot buy happiness. The people with money can pay for bills. I do not believe that if you do not have money you will be unhappy. Some people can be happy.
Ashley Meisner My question that I am answering for the anticipation survey is “We should think of the United States as a “melting pot” in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and follow “American” customs and traditions.” I believe in this statement because this is an American country and we live by the Americans rules. If people are going to come over to our country for a better life then they should live by our American rules. We go to boarding countries for vacations but we never stay over there and try to change and incorporate our American lifestyle into their countries ways. I feel like we are offering other cultures great opportunities in the United States and we are nice enough to except them and I think they should live by American rules otherwise they should just stay in their own country. Some traditions I feel as though are a exception because it’s not different then religions expressing themselves differently but I think that cultures show a lot of diversity in our country but I feel as though since we don’t try to change other countries traditions or bring our traditions into their countries that things should be ran the American way.
The statement that I feel the most strongly about would have to be number 9 which says “Money is an important part of life and without it, you would be unhappy. I strongly agree with this statement because I think that without money, it would be hard to be happy, I’m not saying you can’t be happy without money, but it would be very difficult. There are many things in life that you need a house, a family, a job, and some sort of transportation. For all of these things you need money. Money to buy a house, money to start and support a family, money to find a job and a job will provide money for the other things that you need such as food and clothing. You also need money these days to own a car, and with gas prices, you need a lot of it. I don’t know many people who would be willing to live life without a family, a car, food, clothing, a house to live in and you need to pay to heat your house and provide hot water and electricity. To live without money, and the things it provides, is to live without anything at all.
I do not believe that is the woman’s responsibility to care for the children and keep the home because what if both of the parents work at different times of the day, the woman wouldn’t be able to take care of them at sometime? If the parents didn’t share the duty of taking care of their children and cleaning up around the house, then more than likely the house and children wouldn’t end up being as nice or good because they wouldn’t have been exposed to both of their parents. Another reason why it shouldn’t be up to only the woman to care for children and the home is because what if her husband is a low life and sits around and does nothing? It could be hard for her to convince her husband to help out around the house or care for their children because he doesn’t even have a job. Also if the woman has to work all the time she won’t have the time to take care of the kids or clean up around the house because when she is out making money to pay for both of those things she won’t have that much extra time to help out around the house.
Prompt: If your family doesn’t support dreams, it is best to let them go. I know that if your family doesn’t support your dreams, that doesn’t mean that you should let them go. Just because someone tells you not to follow your dreams doesn’t mean that you need to lose those dreams. You need to do what you think is best about your dreams. Don’t lose your dreams because somebody puts you down, your parents don’t like your dreams, or because you failed the first time. People learn from their mistakes and gain more experience from mistakes. After getting a mistake, use the mistake to better yourself next time you try. Always try to pursue your dreams if that is what you really want to do in life. Your dreams are your own life, so don’t let people tell you what to do. Dreams are wonderful things in life, especially when you make them come true. When dreams come true, there is nothing better than to be in your dreams. When dreams come true, you can expose your best friends to them and you and your friends can experience some of the best things in life. Dreams are great, so try to fulfill some of them.
The question that I am writing about is the question of money being important in life, and without it you won’t be happy. In my opinion, the answer for the question is true. If you think about it, if you don’t have money in life, you won’t be able to have any nice things. In life, without money, you wouldn’t have a car, money for gas, money for new clothes, and you also wouldn’t be able to afford to buy yourself food. I’m pretty sure that if you are starving, walking around in filthy clothes, and poor, you wouldn’t be too happy. So it’s not that you have to be rich to be happy, but in my opinion you need to have a steady income in order to afford and maintain the things that you like most in your life. Not everything is ten cents anymore; you need to actually work for a while in order to afford anything that you want, especially a car or truck. Also, leisurely things such as vacations cost a ton of money, and vacations are a great stress relief in order to keep you happy. So I think that in order to be happy, you need to have at the very least, a steady income in order to keep your life good.
“If your family doesn’t support your dreams, it is best to let them (dreams) go.” I, Zachary Zeller, student of American Encounters, block 3, on March 21, 2011, do not believe this statement to be true. Dreams are an individual’s hopes for the future or release from the present. No one should be able to dictate whether or not one should keep their dreams. Everyone has them, and it’s foolish to believe that anyone would toss their dreams aside simply for the reason that the person’s family or a member of said family disapproves of the dreams. However, if one’s family doesn’t approve of the dreams, then instead of letting the dreams go, a better thought would be to let the family go. I don’t mean completely get up and leave home, simply don’t go to these family members with your dreams. Did America listen when England disapproved of becoming an independent country? Did Martin Luther King Jr. listen when countless racists told him to end his fight for equal rights? If people threw their dreams away simply because they weren’t supported by someone, including a family member, then half of the great things we have today would be nonexistent.
8.) If a ship carrying 30 people sinks, and there is only one life boat with 15 seats, and only enough food for 10 people, should you still save all 30 people? I believe that even though there are only 15 seats, and enough food for 10 people, that you should still save everyone. Everyone deserves to live, we don’t leave anyone behind, we save the lives of all, not just a select few. If there is only 15 seats on the life-saving boat, people can learn to scoot over, squish together, and double up on top of each other because we aren’t going to just let the other 15 innocent lives go to waste just because we didn’t have room on the boat for them. Everyone has a life, and nobody needs to lose it because they couldn’t fit their body on the boat. About the food shortage, people can learn to share what they got especially if it is going to help save the lives of many others. The people on the boat probably have families, jobs, and big futures ahead of them. Everyone on that boat has the same right to live as anyone else. Seat room and not enough food can be handled without for a while, especially when there is many lives on the line.
The statement I feel most strongly about would be, “If your family does not support your dreams, it is best to let those dreams go.” That statement, in my mind, is false because dreams are what keep you going in life. People live to accomplish their dreams. That’s what being successful means. If your family does not want to support what makes you happy, then they don’t understand and respect you enough to support whatever you want to do or achieve in life. Yes, sometimes a person’s dreams seem unachievable, but if everyone gave up on them, then some of the most famous and influential people in our world wouldn’t be known. For example, if Lance Armstrong did not bike the Tour de France again after he got cancer, he would not have won it and became an inspiration to people that are fighting cancer or anyone in general who uses Lance’s situation to help them overcome something going in their lives. My dream is to become a famous fashion designer someday. If my parents or other family members didn’t support it, I would still go forward with my dreams and at least try to achieve them. Even if I fail and my family tells me, “I told you so,” at least I still tried. I would rather reach for my dreams and not accomplish them, then just not even try and go through life wondering if I did, would I succeed?
Brandon David Schneider In the anticipation guide I chose the question: Money is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy. I feel that if money was not an aspect of your life, you would not be happy in today’s society. Think about it, if you had no money you would be living on the streets, poor and starved. You would not have a cell phone and you would not have proper nutrition. When it comes to natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes or even thunder storms, you would have to brave the weather without shelter. After all would you enjoy being torn apart by flying debris such as glass, and shards of wood? I sure don’t like having the feeling of constant urge of hunger in my stomach and that would be just about guaranteed without money. On a less severe extent, people with less money usually do not get as good of an education, therefore more than likely will not get a good career and will have a hard time getting ahead in life. Also without money it would be impossible to start a family; therefore without money you would not be happy in life.
The statement that I have feel the most strongly about is “money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.” It is true that money is a very important part of everyday life, money supplies many items that we take granted for everyday. Without money we would not have food, water, or even a home to sleep in at night. Money is centered around our lives today, with very expensive homes, electronics, and clothing are all present in many of our American lives today. Even rewards are granted in money when a specific job is done well in some cases. Americans spend their entire lives working to make money, but I do not believe that money is the true source of our happiness. Some people in our world are not happy even with a sufficient amount of money, and there are people who may not have as much as a dollar who are completely happy with their lifestyle. I believe happiness comes for a person’s attitude towards life and enjoy their experiences they have throughout life. Even though money buys and creates many of the opportunities to experience different things to make you happy but without an enjoyable outlook on life one can fail to have happiness.
Jacob Norbert Kisiolek If your family does not support your dreams, is it best to let them go? I believe that it is not alright to just let your dreams go because of your family. If you do that now you will just let anyone walk over you in the future. Also if you let your dreams go your life will not turn out how you want it to be, for example if your dream is to become an astronaut. The whole beginning of your life you plan and plan to become an astronaut, but when you let those dreams go, you stop hoping and trying and just forget about it. Then for the rest of your life you will not care about anything or never strive to do anything above and beyond average. Then because of that you will never get a promotion in your job because you are not standing out, and in this economy if you do not get a promotion you will not be able to afford your house and car payments. So eventually you will get trapped into a deep downward spiral unable to get out, and it is all because of your family. Salmon
I agree that if a ship carrying 30 people sinks and there is one lifeboat with 15 seats and only food for 10 people, you should still save everyone. I don’t see how anyone could be able to determine who can be saved, and who cannot be saved. I think that it would impossible to tell a person that they are not allowed to be saved. Just imagine the heartbreak of those people that would be left there to die. You would have to remember the faces of those left to die forever and ever. It would be certainly worth the risk of trying to save all of the 30 people. Even though that some of these people will not have comfortable space to sit or that they may die of starvation, it is still the appropriate choice. By saving everyone, all 30 people at least have a chance of surviving. The people can sit on top of each other or lay on the floor, to make room for others. The food can be shared so that all people can eat. All 30 people can work together to find land faster and row the lifeboat toward land faster. Trying to save all 30 people is the morally correct and right thing to do.
The question I answered on my Anticipation Guide was: “We should think of the U.S. as a “melting pot” in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and only follow “American” customs and traditions.” I think this is false because there are many different cultures in this country already. There are no specific “American” cultures. The customs we have right now are from all other countries and cultures. People come over to this country for a better life not a different culture. Other reasons people come to this country so they can practice their own religion and their way of life as they want to live it. It is hard to leave one culture for another that you have never been introduced to before. Americans traditions are actually every other person’s traditions already. People that have come to this country many years ago gave us our very lucky, nice, and meaningful traditions we all have in this wonderful country. The traditions and customs we already have are very open already and other cultures and countries already do have. America is a melting pot as in many traditions colors, and countries do come together to make a wonderful country. Dusty Salm
The question I picked for the Anticipation survey is that money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy. I believe that is an important part of life because without money you would not be happy because you would not be able to buy a house. You would not be able to even have a place to stay that you can call your own. Also you would not be able to have anything that you would be able to call your own You also would not be able to start a family. You would not be able to start a family due to you not having money to help support them. You would not be able to buy them food or clothes. If you would not have money you would not be able to have a place to stay or food for yourself. You also would not be able to have a vehicle to use to take yourself from place to place because even if you did not have a car you would not be able to afford the gas for the vehicle to run. Also you would not be able to make repairs if the vehicle would break down.
Erin Barrette Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy The question I picked for the Anticipations survey is Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy. I have the belief that without money you will honestly and truly be unhappy with the life you are living. Money obvious makes people happy, look around. People now a days are very materialistic; they all need material things to make them”happy”. Also, when you have more money you are able to buy better valued things, for an example if a person that comes from a lot of money they can afford to go to a better college and then they will be better off to get a better job, and then they will be able to buy even materialist items (things that entertain, like sound systems, tv, phones ipods, etc) then they are able to afford to go a vacations and proved thing that make themselves happy that they have an interest. If you don’t have money you will be lonely, no one will want to be with a loser who does nothing and has no money and well that is the cold hard truth.
The statement “Females should not aspire to high power careers” I strongly disagree with. The gender of a person should not influence their decision in the career they choose to pursue. A person should choose to pursue a career because they want to and because they enjoy what they do every day when their at their job. A person’s gender does not make them better or worse at pursuing a high power job. There are many women who have high power jobs and there are many men who do not have high power jobs, but instead have low power jobs. One example of a high power job that a female may pursue that is a high power job is a lawyer. A female is just as good of a lawyer as a male. Also some high power jobs require both men and women. For example, most large city police departments require at least one if not more female police officers. Also if females where not to aspire any high power careers then that would mean that they would only be able to work at place that don’t require high power, which would steal jobs from high school students and the people that work there.
Hi, my response to “Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.” I belief that this statement is wide of the mark in a lot of ways, not every dream has to involve money. We all have dreams but most require money, but we also have dreams that do not have the need for money. But to reach these dreams one and only needs a job. To come to be to these jobs one and only must use the money to come to be to their job or dreams. To make these dreams happen one needs respect, hustle, and loyalty. One and only needs to respect the people from one place to an additional place and their supplies to make sure the job gets done. One and only needs hustle to get the job done on time. One and only needs loyalty to pass on to others to get there job done so you can do yours. “Turn right to go left” means whatever the dream or job you are never headed in the wrong way. Take on new challenges so you can feel the exhilaration of victory. By not have one dream or job but several to experience every aspect of the earth.
Money is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy. This is the prompt that I chose to respond to because I believe that even though monetary value is important it isn’t the most important thing and without it that you’ll be unhappy. Money does play a significant role in today’s society but that doesn’t mean that without it that you are any less of a person or have anything to do with your happiness. A person living on the streets and collecting minimal amounts of money from generous people could be one of the happiest people that you could come across for reasons that are obviously not because of one’s monetary value. The only thing money does is separate and segregate our society, with the wealthiest on top usual in power as well with the homeless or jobless people on the bottom with little say and wealth in our community. The person on the street could be ten folds smarter than the fortune 500 CEO but because he’s on the street he is observed as a lesser man. The man on the street could be just as happy as the CEO or more so, a person should not gauge their happiness on their wealth but on the things that are important to them. Money is nothing more than a tool used by humans to classify one another, because in our minds someone has to be soupier to another in order for them to feel important or successful. Money is one of the easiest and quickest ways to do that.
I do not agree with the statement "If your family does not support your dreams, it is best to let them go." I believe this statement is very wrong because if you have a dream it is not your families dream, it is yours. Therefore, no matter what your family may think you have the right to pursue any dream. If it is what you want you should go after it. Your family is not always right and does not always know what is best for you. Everyone should chase their dreams. Dreams are a part of life. They are what keep people motivated to move forward. If people did not have dreams we would not have successful people in this world. Dreams are important in everyone's life and no one should be told they won't be able to acheive what they want. Even if dreams are unreachable or if someone fails to accomplished what they dreamed about it does not matter as long as you tried with everything you had no matter what people thought or said. Because people should not let others influence their dreams negatively. Also, if your family does not support your dream they must not care about your happiness because achieving dreams and succeeding is what people work toward in life to become happy.
I feel most strongly about the statement “In order for society to function, there has to be a ‘food chain’: some people at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.” Without laborers, there would be no one to work machines and fields to make all the day-to-day essentials. Without someone watching the workers and making sure everyone is doing their job and getting paid, things would get out of hand pretty quickly. The people at the very top control the different companies and make large decisions so that the companies continue to make money and provide jobs for the lower workers. Society simply can not exist without the different levels, if everyone got only what they could make themselves and then had to trade for food and such, people would inevitably find one person among the others who they preferred to trade with. That person would then be better off than average and be on a higher level.
The statement i feel strongly about is "money is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy." I agree with this. Yes, there are more important things in life than money but I truly feel that in order for someone to be happy you need a job/money. People who say that they don't need money to be happy are strongly mistaken. There is no way one can say they would be happy with no income. You're always worrying about where your going to find your next meal and what it is going to be. Yes money can cause harm but all in all i feel that if you have enough money to sustain a normal lifestyle so you don't have to stress you will be happier.
I do not agree with the statement, “If your family doesn’t, support your dreams it is best to let them go.” A few reasons why I do not agree with this statement is your family might not truly understand what will make you happy. Only you know what will make you happy and satisfied. If you do not follow your dream, your entire life you might second guess your decision. Your family might think you would be fine and move on, but you might think differently. Also your family might not truly understand how your dream and accomplishing your dream could change your life forever. Your family might not understand how bad you want to accomplish your dream. Also your family might not want you to be mad when you fail, but you know that if you failed you would keep trying until you accomplished, your goal. Your family also might not truly understand how you will achieve your goal; they may think it may be more difficult than what it truly is. No matter what you should follow your dreams, no thoughts of other people should get in the way.
I do not agree with the statement “We should accept our roles (gender, race, and socioeconomic) as society dictates and not try to change them even if we are happy.” I believe that our gender, race, and socioeconomic should not affect our lives. It should not matter what color we are or if we are a male or female to determine how we live or what kind of job we have in the world. If you go to school and work hard to do something you like, your race or gender should not affect a future job for yourself. If you are unhappy with your current situation you should change it. You can’t let people tell you what to do based on your gender or race. All though in the current society some people are more privileged than others and may get opportunities faster and don’t have to work hard as the less privileged. But if you are one of the less privileged you still can work your way from the bottom all the way to the top. After all this talk about America and the freedom that we have, we should have the opportunity to become something great and change your life to become happy.
ReplyDeleteThe one that I feel most strongly about would have to be the thirteenth statement on the Raisin in the Sun: Anticipation Guide worksheet.
ReplyDelete“Money is an important part of life without you will be unhappy.” Money is a very important part of life you need money to do just about anything.

ReplyDeleteI personally disagree with the statement that if a man is unable to provide monetarily for his family, it makes him less of a man.

ReplyDeleteWe should not have predetermined roles in society because of gender, race, or socioeconomic reasons.
ReplyDeleteGender roles are indeed dictated by society, although that is only because in society we allow it to be that way.
ReplyDeleteWe should not think of the United States as a “melting pot” in which people from many varied cultures should leave their differences and old world customs behind and adopt only “American” traditions and customs.
ReplyDeleteMoney is an important part of our lives , I believe that the truth part of this is that if you do not have a sufficient funds you will be worrying to much about the future.
ReplyDeleteIs money an important part of life?

ReplyDeleteMy question that I am answering for the anticipation survey is “We should think of the United States as a “melting pot” in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and follow “American” customs and traditions.” I believe in this statement because this is an American country and we live by the Americans rules.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that is the woman’s responsibility to care for the children and keep the home because what if both of the parents work at different times of the day, the woman wouldn’t be able to take care of them at sometime?
ReplyDeletePrompt: If your family doesn’t support dreams, it is best to let them go.
ReplyDeleteI know that if your family doesn’t support your dreams, that doesn’t mean that you should let them go.
ReplyDelete“If your family doesn’t support your dreams, it is best to let them (dreams) go.” I, Zachary Zeller, student of American Encounters, block 3, on March 21, 2011, do not believe this statement to be true.
ReplyDelete8.) If a ship carrying 30 people sinks, and there is only one life boat with 15 seats, and only enough food for 10 people, should you still save all 30 people?
ReplyDeleteThe statement I feel most strongly about would be, “If your family does not support your dreams, it is best to let those dreams go.” That statement, in my mind, is false because dreams are what keep you going in life.

ReplyDeleteIn the anticipation guide I chose the question: Money is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy.
ReplyDeleteJacob Norbert Kisiolek
ReplyDeleteIf your family does not support your dreams, is it best to let them go?
ReplyDeleteThe question I answered on my Anticipation Guide was: “We should think of the U.S. as a “melting pot” in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and only follow “American” customs and traditions.” I think this is false because there are many different cultures in this country already. Dusty Salm
ReplyDeleteThe question I picked for the Anticipation survey is that money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.
ReplyDeleteI believe that is an important part of life because without money you would not be happy because you would not be able to buy a house.

ReplyDeleteMoney is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy
The question I picked for the Anticipations survey is Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.
ReplyDeleteHi, my response to “Money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.” I belief that this statement is wide of the mark in a lot of ways, not every dream has to involve money.
ReplyDeleteMoney is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy.
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with the statement "If your family does not support your dreams, it is best to let them go." I believe this statement is very wrong because if you have a dream it is not your families dream, it is yours.
ReplyDeleteI feel most strongly about the statement “In order for society to function, there has to be a ‘food chain’: some people at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.” Without laborers, there would be no one to work machines and fields to make all the day-to-day essentials.
ReplyDeleteThe statement i feel strongly about is "money is an important part of life; without it you will be unhappy." I agree with this.
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with the statement, “If your family doesn’t, support your dreams it is best to let them go.” A few reasons why I do not agree with this statement is your family might not truly understand what will make you happy.
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with the statement “We should accept our roles (gender, race, and socioeconomic) as society dictates and not try to change them even if we are happy.” I believe that our gender, race, and socioeconomic should not affect our lives.
