  1. Is war inevitable?
I think war is definitely inevitable because we are always going to have conflict with each other. We can’t help that it is in our human nature to disagree with others’ beliefs. War is a necessary part of our lifestyle. We need it not only to protect ourselves, but also other people around the world. We become involved in war either to defend ourselves from an attacking enemy or to stop a corrupt leader that has plans for causing harm and taking over the world. War is how we stop these evils and protect the rights others have earned us. No matter how hard we try to make the world peaceful, there will always be some crazy, psychotic leader with plans we couldn’t imagine. Since this is the case, war is inevitable. We can’t plan or prevent it. It just happens.

  2. what needs to happen in a contemporary society for peace to be possible?

For peace to be accomplished in this age their would need to be something of gigantic tragedy to happen. Something to unite us all would have to be world ending or a massacre of that kind of size. The reason that this would bind us together is that we would work for the greater good of our species instead of fighting our petty battles for money or power.

  3. What actions, if any, justify war?
Certains acts of acountry justify a military response. These acts do not neccesarily involve multiple countries, such as a rebellion; I believe that a country has the right to use miltary force to maintain a state's (here I use the legal definition, I am not suggesting that a state of the United States would rebel) internal integrity. Granted, the definition of internal integrity varies, so this act can only be justified on a case by case basis. Another act that justifies war is invasion. A country's Government has the duty, by its very nature, to protect its territory and population. The final act which justfies war is a non-United Nations sanctioned blockade. In this case, a country can use the military to ensure that a country's vital trade countinues. These reasons are cases wherre war is justified.

  4. The way's that are best to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed during war are memorials. Memorials show a sense of respect. They show how much we take pride in what people have done for us. If you walk around in Washington D.C. you will find many memorials dedicated to many different groups from war. They have quotes from people, serivcemen who have given up everything are written on the walls or are "set in stone" for people to see all over the place, from all over the world.

  5. How does war impact soldiers and citizens on both sides of the conflict?
Once somebody goes into war they will never change again. Many citizens don't care or do anything, but that is because they don't know what it is like to be in the military. Citizens on both sides take their military for granted. There is only a few citizens on either side that actually do something to recognize their fighting military and veterans. Veterans and currently serving soldiers have visions and dreams of good and bad things that happen when in war. Many veterans will be hypnotized for life.

  6. War is defiantly inevitable. Everyone is going to continue to have disagreements and war is one of the only ways to solve the disagreements between countries. Whenever we are in war our economy improves because of the numerous jobs that it creates. Without war, anyone could take over any country and no one could stop them. War will happen and there is nothing we can do about it.

  7. In today’s contemporary society war is inevitable. For this to change years of hatred would have to go out the window. In the Middle East there would have to be a culture change of hatred towards the Western countries. The people in power would have to change. Young people don’t have power in Middle East countries. Somehow some way this would have to end. However, war is not the way to answer this. The people need to accomplish a revolution without outside help. If the US has to be dragged into it, all it does is create a reliance on US military forces to solve everything.

  8. Is war inevitable?
Yes, war is inevitable. There is no way that the human race can live on Planet Earth and get along. People disagree, it is their human nature. Many people have hard times agreeing, therefore, as humans, they fight. Although this fighting is not as serious as war, when countries do not get along, a war begins. Every country wants to improve their everyday life. Whether this is to defend themselves or to defend the rest of the world, they have to do what is best for themselves. It is not whether the next war is going to happen, it's when will the next war happen. It is part of human nature to fight for what you believe in, and when the scale raises to a country, how do you fight without a war? This is why I believe war is inevitable.

  9. Is war inevitable?
Yes I do think war is inevitable because problems will arise between two countries whether is be economic, or for any multitude of reasons. War will never be prevented because in a near and or distant future there will be wars over territory of unclaimed countries, there will also be wars over food as eventually we will have a food shortage. Yet as technology is advancing this food shortage idea could be false. The only way there will never be any wars would be if every country would work together in unity and disregard all the things they don't agree with, which seems like an impossible task.

  10. I believe that war is inevitable. No matter how much you strive for peace, there will always be people who want to change something. There will always be those radical leaders who always want more for their countries. Even if the wars aren’t global, there will always be wars between different countries who want more resources and what not for their country. And then there are those leaders who just want to fight everyone and take over the world. It is almost impossible to end all war forever.

  11. How does the war impact soldiers and citizens on both sides of the conflict? Soldiers have dreams ever night. They have to go through rehab. They would do this again in a heartbeat. I think everyone has a better understanding on war after they fight themselves. Chris Gilson

  12. Is war inevitable? I think was is deffinatly inevitable. No matter some people think there are going to be other that disagree. One person or group of people is always going to dislike another group for some reason whether it be how they look or what they do or have done. War always has happened and will always happen. There is no way to stop it. Dusty

  13. Is war inevitable? I believe that war is inevitable because countries will only wait so long to get results. War always has results for someone, good or bad, for America it normally is a good thing. Sure people die, but war when it is all said and done it boosts the economy. Every country has war because every country has conflicts, both internal and external, not everyone is going to agree. This is why war is inevitable because not everyone agrees.

  14. In today's day and age I believe that war is inevitable. The differences between two countries often cause conflict because the countries are looking out to make their country more safe, well token care of, and to look out for the well being of their people. War happens for many different reasons, many of them over religious believes, owning land, or not wanting to watch countries fight each other. Conflict is almost never avoided because the safety of the people within countries in war are cannot be jeopardized by the country leaders.

  15. Is War Inevitable?
I believe that war is inevitable. I believe this because we as the human race will never be able to agree on everything. War is a common action in this day and age. We use it to solve disagreements and to dispurse power. I believe that war will always be a part of our lives because it is infused into our blood to stand for what we believe. No one person or country is capable in compromising to the point where everyone is happy. Therefore, people will always have to fight for what they want, which means war will always be in the picture.

  16. What actions if any justify war?

I definitely think that some actions can justify one country going into war with another. At the top of this list is if you are attacked, then you can retaliate. A great example of this would be a scenario like the twin towers, where if a country or group in the country kills some of your citizens, you should be able to do something to make up for the losses of your people. I also believe that if a country were to steal money, resources, or design from you, then you can use force to get them back. Although this may lead to a lot of conflicts involving countries like China, Japan, and India, I think that it is for the better.

  17. How is it best to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed?
There are many ways that one can and should pay tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed. First and foremost it is to recognize them on veterans and memorial day by going to parades and having moments of silence. However you can also put up monuments, visit random fallen soldiers at their graves or even simply fly a flag outside your house. Not only should you pay tribute to those who have died, but to those who are still living. If you know anyone who has served in our military just go up and shake their hand and say thank you. It may not seem like much, but to them it could mean the world. So to answer the question how is it best to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed? I believe the answer is there is no best way, because every way is the best as long as you do pay tribute.

  18. Is war inevitable? I say it is because as long as their are free thinking humans around that can disagree with something there will always be a chance of war around. humans are naturally competitive and even though they are free thinkers they tend to side with people with interests and ideals similar to theirs, which only get bigger and more competitive with time. everyone has an idea of what their ideal world look like. As long as their is an ideal that differs from another that has power there will be war. free minds don't equal a free world.

i think war is inevitable because everyone has something to disagree on and its just what everyone is use too. It will never be stopped no one can control war its just how we settle are disputes with other countries.

  20. What actions, if any justify war?

I believe that there are many things that a country can do to the world that can anger others and make them want to stop them from what they are doing or about to do. For example, say China and Japan both decide to gang up and take over the world with all their nuclear technology, would everyone else just sit there and let them do it? I think if a country is threatening another for whatever reason, then that country and others that are allies with them have the right to fight back and go to war. I think that it is a good thing that others step into conflicts and help them, so they get on that countries good side and in the future will get help from them when they need it. I personally don’t like the idea of war but there are certain situations where war is the only answer to solve the problem.

  21. Actions that can justify war is a threat against anothere country that scares the one country from the other, and they end up taking action for it. Another way war can be justified is if it is brought upon that country; if a country starts attacking your country. War isn't a good thing though, and a person shouldn't really look as war as a way of getting out of things. War should only be used when necessary, otherwise people should talk and compromise something if that thing isn't going like it is wanted. There really is no call for war, and we should avoid it if at all possible.

  22. War impacts soldiers and citizens in both sides immensely. Soldiers are often left with not only physical wounds from battle, but emotional and mental scars. Often, soldiers are found to have post traumatic stress disorder or lots of anxiety. It will also affect their families, as soldiers are sometimes "not the same" as they were when they left. The citizens may have to undergo serious changes in their society. If they live in an area where a war is taking place, they have to live with, and deal with a war going on in their back yards. Upon defeat, they may have to change their lives and customs as well.

  23. How is it best to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed? I beleive the best way to pay tribute is to show respect and remove your hat an place your hand over your heart when the Star Spanngled Banner is being recited. There are endless ways to show respect and tribute to the soldiers its depends the way that you feel is suitable for you to show it.

  24. Is war Inevitable?
Yes, was is inevitable because human beings wil always disagree on things. These disagreements will lead to fighting and war. War is a way we solve our problems with other countries and this will never come to an end because we will always have problems. When two different people or groups believe in two very different things it leads to conflicts which may result in a war to fight for the things you believe in. This is why I believe that war is inevitable.

  25. The question that I chose to answer was; How does war impact soldiers and citizens on both sides of the conflict?
A war impacts people on both sides in many different ways. Soldiers give their lives every day for what they and their country thinks is right. This obviously affects the soldiers because they give their lives but it also affects the men and women that they serve with, because they have to deal with the fact that they lost a comrade. This puts a lot of pressure on the soldiers still fighting for two reasons. The first reason is because they lost a good friend but also because they begin to worry if maybe they are the next one to be hurt.
A war greatly impacts the citizens in many different ways. One way could be the fact that they have to deal with the possibility of them losing a friend or family member in the war. Another way it hurts them is because they have to pick all the jobs that the men and women that have to go off to war to fight. Another thing is the fact that the people have to deal with a money shortage, because most of the money is being used for food and supplies to fight the war. In turn the economy could really drop from the loss of money for the country.

  26. What needs to happen in contemporary society for peace to be possible?
Only if people change the inevitable will peace be possible. Human error is one such change; so long as the possibility of a mistake being made exists, war will undoubtedly keep recurring. Also, people will have to be calm and controlled about injustices and wrongdoings; any radical action or reaction is liable to start up a conflict between two parties. Another change needed to be made is ignorance; until people can “put themselves in another’s shoes” and accept that not everyone will share the same ideals, there are bound to be disagreements between people of different religions, beliefs, ethnicities, and other such dividing factors. If these changes can be made, then lasting peace has a chance; if not, we’ll learn in due time that we should’ve tried harder.

  27. is war inevitable? yes. i dout there will ever be a time when people learn to solve their problems in raional, smart ways, or a time when we dont have our diseagreements over silly or irrelevant things. unfourtunately it is our instinct to fight when we disagree, and i dont think that will change

  28. Is war Inevitable?
Yes, I feel that war is inevitable for a few reasons. The first and biggest reason is that 99 percent of the time everyone is not going to agree on everything. There is alot of people out there doing things such as car bombings and other terrorist acts such as the twin towers attact, and we need to act upon these to protect ourselves. We as citizens of the United States have recieved the nic name "world police" because we help other countries such as Iraq with bad leaders such as Sadam Husane. Leaders like these who are in a form of government known as a dictatorship, take control by terrorizing its citezens and we know this isnt right. To stop idiots like these there is war, wether we like it or not, we deal with it.

  29. How does war impact soldiers and citizens on both side of the conflict? People’s life changes after a family member or themselves are listed in the war. Many soldiers that come back from the war suffer emotional pain, physical pain, or even both. Many families, friends, and even citizens don’t understand the feelings of serving over war to protect are freedom. When a family member or a friend that we know or friend’s friends that we know went into the war we citizens really don’t know the struggle they go through or the things they see. Since we the citizens don’t know much about the war or know people in the war we still have to realize and support the families/members that are being affected by this war and show our thanks you to them for protecting our freedom.

  30. What actions, if any justify war?
A country defending itself from attack by another, or stopping someone for the good of the world. The 9/11 terrorist attacks are a good example of a provoked response, where we were attacked and defended ourselves. We then made sure that no one else could be hurt by these people by invading their country and stopping them.

  31. War impacts the life both soldiers and citizens on both sides of a war in many different ways. A soldier on either side of a war is risking their life which, impacts the lives of others. Citizens are left at home to wait for their loved ones to come home. But people are not only impacted during the war they could be affected even after the war is over. Soldiers that are injured during the war have to live the rest of their life different than before the war, due to missing limbs and haunting thoughts. Both soldiers or citizens are forced to live the rest of their life without their mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter, or even their closets friends because the war has taken them and left only memories of when they have once lived.

  32. I think that the best way to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed is to build memorials to remember those. A memorial not only has quotes, names and pictures to remember those by, but a story. They tell a story about that war and the people who were in it. While in Washington D.C I saw many memorials. For example the Vietnam memorial had names of those who died or who are still missing in action. The Korean War Memorial has many statues that represent the men in the field and a wall of faces that reflect those who fought in the war. The memorials pay tribute to those who fought and remind us all of the scarifies those men and women made. Therefore I believe that memorials pay the best tribute to those who have sacrificed.

  33. I believe the best way to pay tribute to the soldiers who has sacrificed is to respect, care, and understand all of what they have done for their country. You should respect their opinion and respect the individual every November 11 for their sacrifices to this country. A person should care for a soldier by thanking them and also by caring for America, what they stood and fought for by not just reciting the Star Spangled Banner or the Pledge of Allegiance, but by truly saying it from the heart with every soldier’s sacrifices being thought of. A person can also pay tribute by understanding all of what the soldiers have done for this country. By intently listening to the soldiers, a person shows how much they understand the soldiers and what they have done. People can pay tribute to soldiers by respecting, caring, and understanding what soldiers have done.

  34. How does war impact soldiers and citizens on both sides of the conflict?
Soldiers have to leave their families, to risk their lives, knowing they might not see them again. All the horrible images that they encounter while being over there to all the bad memories they have when they come back. All the people over here who wait for their family to return and all the moms and other family members who have to make way without them helping. When they come back having to rebuilt their relationship as if they're a whole new person.

  35. How is it best to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed?

I believe what is best to remember the fallen is those days like Veterans day where we all as a country can remember. Along with that have memorials in the home towns of these soldiers to help there families and to never forget. These soldiers desvere so much for this sac rife and for them also have there families taken care of and whatever there needs are. Mainly just always remember the ones who sacrificed and never forget them and what they did for the country.

  36. What needs to happen in contemporary society for peace to be possible?
What needs to happen in contemporary society for there to be peace is people need to start being more accepting towards others and also to respect people’s different beliefs. For instance, the Jewish Islamic conflict in the Middle East or even here in America between the conservatives and the liberals.

  37. The question that I chose to answer is: how does war impact soldiers and citizens on both sides of the conflict? To me, I think about and look back on wars that have made an impact on our society. It seems that even though countries are always saying that they don’t want to resort to war to solve a conflict, it is sometimes the answer that we find almost instantly. It impacts soldiers on both sides and well as their families. It affects the friends of those families, and of course, our nation and other nations as wholes! When I look at the Iraq war that we are in now, I automatically think of the people I know who are fighting for us or who have fought for us and put their lives on the line. This war also is not happening in our country, so we don’t have to see it every day; it’s the people over in Iraq who have to live with this discourse and deal with it. Right now the “clean up” phase is in full swing as well as helping to set up a more just legal/political system. In my opinion, I don’t really know if war solves much other than creating havoc amongst people of both countries and the soldiers as well.
