Raisin Anticipation Survey: After Reading
In the “After” column of the Anticipation Survey you started at the beginning of the Raisin in the Sun unit, respond again to the statements. Then, read your original journal response on the blog post. Finally, journal a reply (200 words or more) to a statement in your belief has changed since reading the story. If your view has not changed, write about a different statement than to which you responded in Part II.
The statement I am writing about is "Gender roles are dictated by society and we have no control over them." I strongly disagree with this statement. The only reason these role are "dictated" by society is because we let society do this. The more and more we disagree with what society says we should do, and the more we act upon what we believe in, these roles will change. It is ultimately up to us to decide what we want. As we become more confident in who we are, we won't have these "roles" anymore.
ReplyDeletei belive after reaqding this play that if you invest your money into a house rather then a buissness you may not make much more money but you will not have to take a risk that you could use to buy something that could go under and lose your money. the house would slowly go up in price becuse their will always be people looking for houses to buy and it will not change. also i belive that gender roles can be controled after the play becuse some things like being a doctor can happen for a women even though you wouldnt think of it as their role. their are also girl macanices that you would not think would happen very often. these are just two examples of how a person can go out of their normal role to be what they want or need to be to make money. another prime example that is even stranger would be a male nurse, it makes good money and men can help heal the sick to. i would have to say that this book did get me to think a little more about the questions then before.
ReplyDeleteI am writing about "if your family doesn't support your dreams, it is best to let them go." I agree with this because when it comes down to certain factors in life, defending your self interest is one of the most important things. If I had a dream to live a life that would give me purpose and meaning, instead of a mundane and boring life, but my family objected, I would disown them. Family is about support and love, and if a family can not show a family member support and love, no matter what the dream is, then, I believe, they are not true family. Everyone lives rich inner lives, and without dreams, so many people would be bored and depressed. Dreams are what give people the motivation to accomplish things. So often so many people have dreams or ambitions, but they are stunted by their family. I think this is wrong, and that if somebody has a dream, they should pursue it, whether their family supports them or not.
ReplyDeleteOne answer that I changed was neighbors should have the right to decide what kind of community they want to have, including who lives there. I originally thought that neighbors should get to decide these things because my viewpoint on it was like if someone who had been in prison or something were to move there, the people already in that neighborhood should have the right to feel safe. After reading this story though, a person in the 1950’s probably looked at African Americans the same way we look at criminals. Some criminals still do carry risks, but others may just be stereotyped. I still think that you should be able to reject a sex offender from certain areas, but most people should just get to live where they want. In the case of the play, they were trying to stop African Americans from moving into all White parts of town. Nowadays, in my opinion, this is ridiculous. Race should have nothing to do with who gets to live where. The culture of today is also a lot different, so I’m sure many people agree on that, whereas back then, almost no one would. Only people who pose a potential threat to a neighborhood should be able to be told where and where not to live.
ReplyDelete#12. It would be smarter to invest your money on a house rather than a business.
ReplyDeleteIt would definitely be smarter to invest some money into a house rather than a business because for the house, you know for sure where your money is going to go. If you invest your money into a business with a partner, it is possible for your partner to take the money and run off with it. It would be safer to invest money into a business where you are the only owner of the business, but it would be even smarter to invest your money into a house. It would be smarter to invest your money into a house because it is more important to have shelter than to own a business. Once you own a house that is in ship shape condition and you have excellent financial status, then you should be able to invest your money into a business. But, if you are going to put money for a business, make sure that you handle the money that you put into the business. Create and keep on file a written agreement between you and your partner(s) to make sure that none of you lose your money because somebody stole it. These days, you really need to watch what and where your money is going because people take advantage of people all of the time. Before reading this story, I thought it would be smarter to invest money into a business, but now I think the exact opposite because I saw in the movie what could happen if you invest money into a business with a partner or two.
My opinion on the previous prompt has not changed so I chose the prompt: if a family inherits a large sum of money, the choice of how to spend it should fall in the hands of the Parents to respond to. Previously, I had disagreed with this statement, because the family as a whole should decide. Not all parents are smart with money; for example, the kind of parent who would steal the identity of their own child has no right to how that money will be, or whether even the money should be, spent. Now, however, I am not so sure about my stance. My previously taken stance, I now feel, was too extreme, but I still feel the same way. Mama certainly deserved to handle how the money went, but Walter provides a good example of why the family as a whole should decide. The entire family should not suffer for one parent’s selfishness. Only, a family needs the ability to compromise when trying to decide how the money should be spent. A family that lacks compromise is an unhappy one. Also, there are the cases where it is only the parents that have the ability to decide, in which case the entire problem is moot. That is my stance.
ReplyDelete“We should think of the US a melting pot in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and only follow American customs and traditions”. In my opinion this is wrong, but not completely outlandish. If America had always been a melting pot we wouldn’t have things the way they are now. People look for themselves in their cultures past. American traditions come from traditions of our immigrants. Everyone one of is the relative of an immigrant, other than Native Americans. In the play Walter wants to assimilate to the white people. He ignores his own culture, and where he came from. He gives them what they want to hear by saying that they wont move into the neighborhood. Benetha enjoys her culture, like many people. If we assimilated then we wouldn’t have St Patrick’s Day and holidays like that. We celebrate our past, because we have that freedom. This is what makes us different and a destination for people that are being oppressed in their homeland. They can enjoy their culture while having the freedom that being an American gives you. However some assimilation is necessary. If you want to live in America you should speak English and follow the laws that we have. Some things are just necessary to be an American and there are expectations.
ReplyDeleteI disagree that neighbors have the right to decide what kind of community they want to have-including who lives in that neighborhood. People can think that since they were their first that they should be able to control their neighborhood. If that happened most people wouldn’t be living where they are today. That thought that people have towards controlling their neighborhood is completely wrong. Everyone has different thought about most things. Some people move to where it is a better and more stable environment to live in. They just want to be safe. Those people that do not want them there because they may speak different or wear different clothes do not mean they are totally different people on the inside. They just lived like that before so they don’t know how to be different but after awhile they will catch on. Also some people don’t want a criminal living in their neighborhood but the word criminal is a bad word to use because that is such a broad topic. They may be doing some time of killing someone but it might have been self defense. They may also be over what they have done and now they are looking for a new life.
ReplyDeleteBefore reading the play A Raisin in the Sun, I thought that it would be wiser to invest your money in a house rather than in a business. After reading the play, I would have to disagree with what I had said before the play, rather, I would say it depends on the situation. I realize that Walter invested into a business and it bit him in his behind later in the story, but if you invest in a business with the right people, you can be very successful. Walter got caught trusting someone he should not have been, Willy, because he shared the same dream of Walter’s. You should never trust someone by what they say because, most of the time, they know what you want to hear. You have to understand the people you are working with. If you know who they are, and what they are thinking, then you will know whether you can trust them or not. Willy played Walter and Bobo and fled with their money. Most people would have agreed with my before opinion after they had read the play, but after thinking deeply about this, I realized that Walter could have been very successful. Obviously more people would rather take the sure thing, than take a risk, which is why they would rather invest in a house than a business. Just because something is a sure thing does not make that the smart decision. After reading the play, I have come to understand that people have to take risks in order to be successful. If there was a pathway leading to success, everyone would be successful. Many successful people were aided by the knowledge they had gained from failure.

ReplyDeleteShould women not be able to aspire to higher power careers? This statement upsets me deeply. There are so many women in today’s society that have higher power careers. These women are just as equal as any man who also possesses the same equal powered career. I mean they have taken the same test and they both have to pass so tell me what the differences are besides body parts? There is nothing! Women are capable of doing anything a man can do. There are so many women that are doctors, that are lawyers, and some of those women can do their jobs better then a man can. But, honestly what’s the difference? They both are trying to make a persons live better or fix something. It’s the same role only taken on by different genders. Women have proven themselves time and time again. Don’t get me wrong men have to, so that’s why I don’t get why to some people are so touchy on the whole subject. ITS NOT A BIG DEAL! Women are just as good as men when it comes to high powered careers. End of story, sorry if it bothers some people but it is what it is!
The statement that I chose to write about is "if your family doesnt support your dreams, you should let them go". I believe you should never ever let go of your dreams. It doesnt matter if no one supports you, its still your dream and you get to decide what you want to believe in. If you didnt have dreams there would be no goals in life for you to accomplish and life would be pretty boring. People can tell you what to do and to cut you down all they want but at the end of the day its your life and you can believe in what you want. This is America the land of oppourtunity and it was built on dreams. I doubt that anyone supported the Wright brothers in their flying dream, and look where we are now flying at mach speed. So never let anyone tell you to let your dreams go they are yours and what you believe in.
ReplyDelete“In order for a society to function, there has to be a ‘food chain’: some people at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom.” At first, I wasn’t sure about whether or not this statement was true or false; after reading “A Raisin in the Sun” and thinking about it, I believe that there does have to be a social “food chain”. Not only does there have to be such a chain, but there always IS a ranking system in society; there are always people who are more successful than others, some who are mid-rank, and still others who could be far better off than they currently are. Even when a member of one of these classes moves up a level, the chain remains. If everyone was filthy-rich in a society, there would still be ranks of wealth: the millionaires, the billionaires, the trillionaires, and so on. Were everyone poor as an earthworm, it would be the same thing: the low, the lower-low, and the lowest of the low. Social classes are just a natural part of life, and can’t be changed through any means. These ranking systems are merely a means of allowing the rich to gloat, the average to shrug, and the poor do despair and hope.
ReplyDeleteThe first question I choose to respond about was the the statement that “money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy. My first reponse was that, that statement is true but now I believe that it is not. In order for someone to be happy the only thing that they really need is someone to be there that cares about you. If you have that and are willing to have to work to get what you want then you can be happy. You may not be able to afford a house but if you work then you will be able to possible afford a small apartment. Also if you live in a big city you probably will not need a car to get from place to place. There are taxis and bus systems so you will be able to get from place to place. Also you could have a family because they may not have much but I the long run you will have each other. As long as you can keep working an keep a place to stay you can be happy. Everyone believes that you need money to be happy but I believe that to be untrue. Life is being cared about, caring for others, and keeping your priorities in line.
ReplyDeleteThe question that I am choosing to write about is that, “money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy.” I changed my mind to disagree with this. After reading the play, I realized that even without money, you can still be happy. In the play, the Younger’s were dirt poor until the insurance money came in the mail. Although there was fighting between the family, they were all happy to have each other. This shows that being happy with the materialistic things in your life inst enough, but you also need to be happy with who you are spending you life with as a family. Money isn’t able to buy you friends; it isn’t able to buy you family either. So why would it be able to buy you happiness when you take all of these deciding factors into account. Before I read the play I thought that money was important because you needed to be able to afford to have things in your life. But after reading, I realized that as long as you are willing to sacrifice things in your life to have the things you truly want, then you can be happy even without money.
ReplyDeleteMy previous position was the same so instead I chose the question, “It would be smarter to invest your money in a business rather than a house.” My stance on this subject is that it would be much smarter to buy a house rather than a business. With a business, you have no idea if it will succeed or fail. To make money with a business you have to sell or make something, if it doesn’t work out, you have to sell the business and lose the money that you put into it. However, if you buy a house, you always have a assured plan to at least make back the money that you put into it. You can always wait to sell if the current market is not very good, and if you fix up the house or add features to it such as an addition, you can make even more money. With a house, you always have a chance to do better, with a business, you have a 50/50 shot of either making it big, or crashing and burning.
ReplyDeleteNone of my views have changed from the beginning. One of my opinions is that a man should always support his family financially or at least make an attempt to. I have always thought this from when I was young because my grandpa and my father have always tried their best to try and support their family and they did whatever they could to do so. I also think that every man should think this and do the best they can. I cannot think anything else to say so I am going to talk about a different topic. Me personally I would rather put a down payment on a house then a business because the business could always go south with a partner like it did when Walter and bobo tried having a partnership with Willy Harris. Also because it could not always work out the way you had hoped it to and you would be out of money and be stuck in an apartment like the Younger’s almost were.
ReplyDeleteIs money an important part of life, and without it you will not be happy? When I first answered the survey I answered no to this question, but now I am not so sure. In the play A Raisin in the Sun, Walter believes that this is true, without money you will not be happy. I believe that he was right because in today’s society without money you will go nowhere. Without money you cannot live, no car, house, heat, everything now a day’s cost money. You can still be happy with your family and with their love but if you are the provider of the house like Walter was, you know that your family may be happy but you will never be until you give them the life you think they should have. The only reason Walter wanted to own a liquor store was to be able to provide for his family, like he said “My wife should be able to wear pearls,” that is all Walter wanted for his family to be able to live how they want to live. So overall I think that some people in your family can be happy without money but not everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am writing about the saying “If you family does not support your dreams, it is best to let them go. In the beginning before reading this play I believed that the best Idea was to let your family go if they do not support you dreams because if your family is not behind you supporting you then what kind of family is that. But since after I have read Raisin in the Sun my opinion has been greatly changed, I have learned a different perspective. Through the story Raisin in the Sun Walter was given the money to put half away for Bennie’s school and the rest went away for him, but Walter gave all the money away, and Willy Harris ran away with the money. During this story Bennie did not support Walter at all even when he was with the liquor store or when he lost all the money she really did not care. Then Mama talked to her a made her realize that family needs you most when they have hit rock bottom. Even though it was hard for the who family to get through that is the most important time to be close to our family.
ReplyDeleteRaisin In The Sun: Anticipation Guide Survey part three
ReplyDeleteOriginally I answered the question “It would be smarter to invest your money on a house rather than a business” with a false. After reading this play I can tell I was extremly wrong. You are better off putting your money towards a house rather than a business because you will have the house no matter what. If you invest in a business you may lose your entire money do to bad business partner or bad economy. When you invest in a house it will always be there no matter what happens after you have bought it. It is easier to sell a house then a bad business. Many people do not look at it this way but after reading Raisin In The Sun I now understand that it can be a terrible idea unless you already have a house and everything else you need to support the family you have, especially if it is not all your money. When you someone else’s money temporarily hoping they will not find out it could backfire on you big time. You should only invest in a business when you are sure it will work out or you have the extra money.
After reading a raisin in the sun, my view has changed on the question of would it be smarter to invest your money on a house rather than a business. I used to disagree and think that it doesn’t matter where you live as long as you have a good job and earn some good money. But after reading, I feel that it may be more important to invest in a home instead of a business for many reasons. Like in the story, the Younger’s had it pretty bad. They had an apartment which was pretty bad and unsanitary and in order to use the bathroom they had to share it with all the other people who lived in the apartments next to them. If it was possible for them to have both a nice house and good money coming in then they might be able to do both but for the Younger’s, since they are just getting started in this world they only have the luxury of one of those investments. I feel that if you have that hard a time living in a house than it may be more important to invest into a more livable house because people don’t want their children and family to have to grow up in a bad place. They want the best for their family and may do whatever it takes to make their family happy.
ReplyDeleteIf your family doesn't support your dreams? Oh well, everyone will live the life they want to live. What's the point of living the life that someone else wants? Some people are happier living in a nice community in a relax life were they work as a nurse or even someone who works in a deli at a grocery store, everyone wants different things in life. No one should tell anyone what they should and shouldn't be doing when it comes to a persons dreams and goals. In my opinion living the high life of having a lot of money and everything and anything they could buy isn't happiness to me, but it is for some people which i respect that. If someone lives their dream, thats success, even if they don't have all the money in the world.
ReplyDeleteI personally had the same view towards all of my answers in the first survey. Therefore I have chosen the eleventh statement. The statement is if a family inherits of is awarded a large sum of money, the money should fall in the hands of the parents. In my opinion the money should fall in the hands of the parents. In most cases in order to be a parent you must be a responsible adult. Therefore if you are a responsible adult and a parent you would know what and where to spend the money. A responsible adult would most likely put it toward something that the whole family would benefit from such as a house, or vehicle. Another thing that a parent may do is split the money equally amongst the family. Now if you were to give the money to the kids, there is a good chance that they would spend the money on something useless, in the big picture that is. If the parents of the family are responsible enough to have children then they should hopefully be responsible enough to handle the money in that situation. Finally I would have to side on the fact that the parents should receive and handle the money.
ReplyDeleteIf a family inherits or is awarded a large sum of money, the choice of how to spend it should fall in the hands of the parents. Notice the emphasis on the s. Complete control of the matter should not be given to one person as they may and probably will put their interests above the needs of the family as a whole (similar to how a ruler in a monarchy differs from an oligarchy or democracy). Mama trusted Walter with some of the money, telling him to put some in the bank for Beneatha. He did not do as she asked and ended up losing it all in a crooked business deal. Had Ruth or someone else been given the money or at least accompanied Walter to the bank to prove the money was there, they could have lost a lot less. There is always the potential, even when control of the money is shared, for people to make the wrong choices. Another example of how one person in control can end badly is when Walter and Bobo gave Willy their money to spread around and make the deal with. They had mutual control when they had their own money, but once Willy had it, he took the money and ran.
ReplyDeleteMy view on the 15th question has changed from disagreeing to agreeing. The 15th part was: We should think of U.S. as a “melting pot” in which people from many cultures leaver their differences behind and only follow “American” customs and traditions. I changed my mind because now that the people of different cultures and societies come here, they should follow what Americans do. America is like a melting pot, full of different classes of races, ethnicities, and cultures all coming together to form the ingredients of what is in the country. Some may disagree with the fact that people come to America and not follow by what everyone else does. People have come to America because they wanted to live a better life; they wanted to be free from all the bad stuff that was going on in the country that they were living in before they came. I believe that the people should leave their cultures behind a little bit, but not too much. It is okay for them to be living here, but they should follow by the rules of Americans out in public, but when they are at home, they can celebrate and follow by what their country does too.
ReplyDelete“If a family inherits or is awarded a large sum of money, the choice of how to spend it should fall in the hands of the parents.” When I first filled out this survey I thought that this statement was false, and that the children should be able to have a say in the decision as well. However after reading A Raisin in the Sun, I believe the parents should definitely have the power of the money. The parents are older and much wiser about what they would do with the money. Just think of what would have happened if Mama let Walter decide what to do with all of the insurance money. Willy would have taken all of Walter’s $10,000, and the family would have had nothing left at all. They wouldn’t have even been able to put the down payment down on the house they wanted. This way the elder parents should be in charge of the money. They can decide what the appropriate thing to do with the money is. They can spend it on what they see necessary or save it for their own children once they pass away. This way the children will still receive the money, but when they do get it, they will be more mature and knowledgeable with what they should do with it.
ReplyDeleteThe prompt that I decided to write about, due to an opinion change, is: If a family inherits a large sum of money, the choice of how to spend it should fall in the hands of the parents. I previously agreed with this statement due to the fact that children are not the ones who need to pay the bills or make investments. After reading "A Raisin in the Sun", I came to the conclusion that the children should be involved in this decision because the choices that are made most likely will affect them as well as the parents. It is a different situation if the children are young and are not really sure what they want, but when the children are older, perhaps with families of their own, they should be allotted the right of either some of the money, or an opinion on what happens with that money. It could be frustrating to work out where all the money goes to, but in the end it is what is best for the family in my opinion. I personally would not want my parents to give me money, and then not let me choose what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading A Raisin in the Sun I realized we do have control over gender roles in society. The statement says, gender roles are dictated by society, and we have no control over them. Before reading this play I agreed with this statement but now re-thinking it I realized that it’s not true. Although, I do agree that gender roles are dictated by society I do not agree with the part saying we have no control over them. I think we do have control of it because in the play Beneatha wants to be a doctor but during that time it was very rare to have a female doctor. Beneatha did not care about that fact though; she was determined to go through schooling and work hard to achieve this goal. Therefore, I believe if you are a female and you want to do something that is usually a male’s task you should go for it and not allow society to decide whether or not you can. The control we have over gender roles is increasing through time. In these days gender does not necessarily matter in what you do. But back then it did. And Beneatha shows us that it should not matter what society thinks; if you want something you should go for it no matter what your gender.
ReplyDeleteIf a family inherits or is awarded a large sum of money, should the choice of how to spend it fall in the hands of the parents? This statement depends on many aspects of the situation. These aspects include who in the family inherits or is awarded the money, what that person wants to do with the money that he or she inherits or is awarded and what everybody plans on doing with the money. In the situation of a small child inheriting a large sum of money I think the best way to handle the situation would be to put the money away for the child, so the child can make a better decision when they are older and more educated. If the parents inherits or is awarded a large sum of money, like in the reading “Raisin in the Sun”, then I believe it should most defiantly fall into their hands because they are an adult and it is their money. Another example from the reading “Raisin in the Sun”, would be if Walter would have inherited the money, instead of Mama. I think it would be fair for Mama to try to talk him out of it or make other suggestion, but because Walter is an adult I think he should have the overall say I what he does with it. But, in all situations of someone in the family inheriting or getting awarded a large sum of money I think the right thing to do is share ideas with the whole family to help make the person who inherited or was awarded the money make a decision.

ReplyDeleteThe topic I wrote about was we should think of the United States as a melting pot in which people from many cultures leave their differences behind and only follow American customs and traditions. My last response was totally agreeing with this statement. I felt as though people should follow Americans rules if they are going to live here because we don’t go into their countries and try to manipulate their cultures. After reading “A Raisin in the Sun” my views have slightly turned a little after hearing about benthas dream of being a doctor I realize that everyone should be treated different and some countries offer better opportunities for people. Also benetha was very interested in learning about her own culture and going to Africa so I realize that just because people live here doesn’t mean they don’t want to live where their culture is. I still agree that other cultures should stay in their own countries and it would cut down on a lot of issues America faces today.
In order on behalf of the general public to function, in being present has to be present a ‘food chain’: a number of general public at the top, cutting-edge the middle, and next to the bottom.” Before the play I disagreed to this statement, but after I now agree with it. Natural life gives us challenges, shocks, and surprises, but in my mind, I know the difference in the middle of lower, middle, and higher class, and none of it has to do with money. I know there needs to be high class for the reason that we would be necessary no government no job companies. The key to success is obvious: we need to come to an end to raise productivity during the course of the economy. Just some people we can look up to. In the time off of a middle class, you have just the rich and the poor there needs to be a low class because we have no one to work the jobs for the companies or keep the world at peace and not dangerous. Be present only the lower class weighed down by cruel treatment, scandals, and law-breaking and of a mind to bad decisions, bad credit and debt?
ReplyDeleteIt is the man's responsibility to provide financially for the family? My answer no, it used to be this way the man would financially support the family and all their needs but now the responsibility should be equal. The woman has the same amount of responsibility to have a job and support herself, husband and family just as the husband would. This responsibility shouldn't ever be just on one person in a family, but rather divided and the two should join together to make there finical situation work. I personally want to be able to always support myself and do this on my own in life and I do not want to have to rely on someone for money. I take charge and would equally support my family like all other families should finacially. Others may feel different but having a loving, working family takes more than just one person.
ReplyDeleteThe statement saying “we should accept our roles as society dictates and not try to change them even if we are unhappy” I have found this statement to not be true at all. In America today there are many different opportunities for all genders and elasticities. One should strive for what they want to become and achieve in life, no matter what past generation’s roles were. Today in America, Americans have the freedom to become what they want to be without question. Back in the 1950’s it was hard for people of different races and genders to become what they truly wanted to be, due to racism, sexism, and lack of money. Through the brave actions of many heroes throughout time Americans have demolished any previous roles that early Americans have known for so long. It is not right and one should not be happy with anything less than what they want to do with their lives and they should pursue their dreams.

Before I read, Raisin in the Sun, I disagreed with the statement, “It would be smarter to invest your money on a house rather than a business.” After reading I now agree, it is much smarter to invest in a house rather than to invest in a business. In the story even though Mama was able to put some money towards the house, the money Walter invested in the business was lost and gone forever. Before reading I thought if you at least invest in a business you are making some money, but I did not take into account that you could lose all your money as well. The smarter and safer way is to invest your money into a house, and even though you might not make a huge amount of money, the money will always be there (for the most part). A house is something that does not depend on as many people as a business. For example in the play when Walter gave his money to Willy Harris, he increased his risk of someone just taking the money and running off. This is what happened in the play, but buying a house in a safe environment, you have correct paperwork and proof that shows you own your house. This therefore gives you an insurance policy to your investment, so it can not just run off and be gone forever.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading a Raisin in the Sun my opinion on the statement about your family and supporting your dreams has not changed. I do not agree with the statement, “ If your family doesn’t support your dreams, it is best to let them go.” It must be hard for someone to have their family against them when it comes to their dreams. Its their families job to reassure them and give them support to follow the dream. Most cannot live out their dream without some kind of support system. They need their family to be there for them. Even without your families support I don’t think they should just leave their family. I think they should just leave their family out of their dream not their life. They should still be connected to their family but not give them the satisfaction of being right if the dream does not come true. A dream is a dream; it is up to you to make that dream come true. Your family should not play a huge role in making that come true, but having the support would be nice to.
The statement I am going to respond to is “money is an important part of life; without it, you will be unhappy”. Although this is a “some what” true statement, it is not always true. I can find many things in life to be happy about that don’t involve money as a top priority. I know that in order to live and pay your bills and to be able to afford all the finer things in life is a great and wonderful thing to feel but to be completely honest money isn’t everything. You don’t need to give your children two hundred dollars for them to be happy. Love is something that is free and comes at no money value. I understand that money is a big aspect of the human race and it is what runs our lives but it does not mean you have to have a million dollars. Look at the billionaires who are not the happiest in the world. They were at some point or another, a normal person just like me and you. I do not think that to have personal happiness, you should have to worry about things like “Do I have enough money?” or “Am I going to be able to get this?” It would hurt people more than you know and cause way more stress than needed.
